Rotary Hearing Healthcare Project

The Rotary Hearing Healthcare Project in Uganda has done much in its seven years of teaching and treatment. Started originally by doctors to improve the hearing health of Ugandans, it has gone on to provide education to local clinicians to carry on the work of detection and treatment of ear disorders and established libraries for many children’s schools, as well as initiated a water program to provide clean water.

The Rotary Quadra Multicultural Book Program helps to prepare immigrant and refugee children for Canadian schools. The program provided almost 300 books in 20 different languages in 2006. Illiteracy leads to poverty and negative lifestyles. The hope is that these books will increase a love of learning, improve organizational and life skills in sharing, caring for and disseminating the books, and enhance general school readiness and performance
